With the increase in sophistication of phishing attacks, be wary of phishing emails – correspondence that attempts to trick you into divulging your UNM NetID and password.

Official UNM communication (e.g., email messages, phone calls, or computer support consultation) will never include a request for your NetID password.

Tips to avoid phishing scams

  •  Beware of email messages from unknown people, or with a strange subject line
  • Do not click suspicious links
  • Inspect sites that ask for your username and password for authenticity
  • Confirm the authenticity of a suspicious request with senders before responding
  • Scan all email attachments with Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP)
